What Lionheart Injury Law Offers for Free

To start, the consultation is free. Regardless whether you hire us, we will answer all your questions, advise you on the next steps, and if you need medical care but don't have insurance, we will help you get the medical care that you need without paying anything out of pocket. After the consultation, if you decide to hire us, it costs nothing upfront. We work exclusively on a contingency fee, which means that we get paid only if we win your case, and if we do not recover any compensation for you, you pay us nothing. In essence, we work for free until we win your case. Call or text (720) 763-5207; we will respond within 24 hours.

How a Contingency Fee Works

We advance every case cost, experts, records, filings, investigation, and trial expenses. You pay us nothing up front. In cases where we go to trial, this means we often end up spending $50,000 to $500,000 on your case, helping build it up for trial. If we do not win your case, you owe us nothing. Our fee only comes out of the recovery that we get at the end of the case. We charge one-third of the recovery if the case resolves before a lawsuit is filed, and 40% of the recovery if we have to file a lawsuit. There is no retainer upfront, and no invoice if there is no recovery. We invest our own money to build your case, taking on all the risk to maximize your recovery.

Free Does Not Mean Cut-Rate

In the personal injury space, the best firms all work on a contingency fee and offer a free consultation. That doesn't mean that you're getting worse legal services. What matters is this: do you actually speak to a lawyer or does the law firm hand you off to a case manager? Does your lawyer take cases to trial? Does your lawyer have results that prove they are an effective advocate? Our results speak for themselves. In a recent case, for example, a $160,000 offer from the insurance company became a $2.7 million recovery. When you compare free or contingency-based lawyers, compare their results and make sure you hire a battle-tested lawyer with proven results.

Getting Treatment When Money Is Tight Right Now

The most urgent problem many people face is getting medical treatment after an injury when they don't have insurance and cannot afford medical care. We help you get immediate medical care, regardless of whether you have health insurance, and regardless of whether you can afford it. Colorado auto policies also frequently include MedPay, medical payments coverage many drivers carry without knowing it, and part of the first conversation is finding every source of auto insurance that pays for treatment, including the other driver's coverage and your own. Gaps in treatment hurt both your health and your claim, so solving the how-do-I-pay-for-care question is step one, not an afterthought. In cases where there is no insurance coverage, we can still help you get medical care through a lien, which is when doctors provide free medical care upfront and only charge you for the care after you recover compensation for your injuries from the at-fault driver.

Important Rules That Shape Your Car Crash Claim

First, the deadline for filing a lawsuit is critical: motor-vehicle injury claims generally carry a three-year statute of limitations under C.R.S. § 13-80-101, longer than most injury claims. But the cameras along I-25, I-70, and Colfax do not keep footage for three years, or even three weeks. It is imperative that you give us a call as soon as possible after your crash to make sure we preserve all relevant evidence. Second, Colorado's modified comparative negligence rule ( C.R.S. § 13-21-111) reduces recovery by your share of fault and bars it only at 50% or more, so an adjuster's claim that the crash was "partly your fault" does not mean you cannot recover. Third, if the driver who hit you carried Colorado's minimum limits or none at all, or if this was a hit-and-run, your own UM/UIM coverage may still offer compensation for your injuries. Our uninsured driver guide walks through this situation in detail. Our Denver office handles crash cases across Denver as well as statewide, and we build cases for trial from day one.

What to Do in the First Days

The complete playbook lives in our guide, What to Do After a Car Accident in Colorado: the scene, the police report, the doctor, and the insurance calls, in order. The short version is: get medical care today, do not talk to the insurance companies before talking to a lawyer, do not give the at-fault driver's insurer a recorded statement, do not sign anything, and use our free consultation to your advantage before you make any decision that you cannot take back and end up regretting later. It costs nothing, and we are confident we will help add some value to your claim, even if you don't hire us. For everything the consultation itself covers, see our free consultation page.

Free Consultation FAQs

Are car accident lawyers really free in Colorado?

Free to hire, yes. Car accident lawyers work on contingency: no consultation charge, no retainer, no hourly bills. The fee is a percentage of the recovery, agreed in writing before the case starts, and owed only if there is a recovery. If there is no recovery, you owe nothing, including the costs we advanced.

What does the free consultation include after a crash?

You speak directly with your attorney about the crash, the injuries, and every insurance policy that might apply, the other driver's, your own UM/UIM, MedPay, and get an honest read on what the claim is worth pursuing. It costs nothing whether or not you hire us.

I cannot afford a doctor right now. What do I do?

Call us anyway. We help you get immediate medical care, regardless of whether you have health insurance, and Colorado auto policies often include MedPay coverage many drivers do not realize they paid for.

How long do I have to bring a Colorado car accident claim?

Generally three years from the crash for motor-vehicle claims under C.R.S. § 13-80-101, but the evidence that wins cases, camera footage, vehicle data, witness memory, disappears in days and weeks. Call early.
